Life
A Northumbrian monk, first of the great English missionaries to the continent, consecrated at Rome as archbishop of the Frisians with his see at Utrecht. Fifty years he preached from Denmark to Luxembourg — where Echternach, his abbey, still honors him with its dancing procession each Whit Tuesday.
