Subscriptions and purchases

How do I restore my purchase?

In Bless, open Settings › Premium › Restore purchases, signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you subscribed with. You need an internet connection for this.

I subscribed, but Premium still looks locked

Try Restore purchases first. If that doesn’t help, check that this iPhone uses the Apple Account you bought with (Settings › your name › Media & Purchases), that you’re online, and then close and reopen Bless.

How do I cancel?

Open the iPhone’s Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Bless and tap Cancel Subscription. In Bless itself, Settings › Premium › Manage subscription opens the same screen. You keep Premium until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

How do I avoid being charged after a free trial?

Cancel at least a day before your trial ends: Apple needs 24 hours’ notice. When you start a trial, Bless can remind you two days before it ends.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles every payment, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves.

Do I have to pay to read the Bible?

No. The whole Bible in both translations, every comment, search, Today and saving are free, with no ads. Premium adds Hebrew & Greek word study, the full Study sheet, all of Discover, the Home Screen widgets and writing private notes.

Reading

The feed stopped and says “Paused”

After 20 verses you haven’t touched, the Read feed pauses itself and shows “Paused — touch anywhere to keep reading”, so an iPhone left on the table doesn’t keep turning pages. Touch the screen to carry on. Holding a finger on the screen pauses it too.

How do I read in order instead of shuffled?

Tap the round button at the top right of Read to switch from the shuffled feed to reading in order. A books button appears beside it: open it to choose any book and chapter. In order, nothing moves until you swipe. Where to start.

How do I change the translation?

Settings › Reading › Translation: the Catholic Public Domain Version (the default) or the Douay-Rheims. Your saved verses and notes stay with the verse.

Can I read on a light background?

Yes: Settings › Reading › Appearance offers Dark, Light, or Match iPhone.

Does Bless work offline?

Yes. The whole Bible, the comments, Study and Today are inside the app. Only buying, restoring or checking a subscription, and links out to sites like vatican.va, need a connection.

How do I add a widget?

Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Bless. There are two, in small and medium sizes: a new verse every half hour, and the saint of the day. Widgets are part of Premium and are for the Home Screen only.

How do I set or change the reminder?

Settings › Daily Reminder turns the reminder on or off and sets its time. If Bless says notifications are off, allow them for Bless in your iPhone’s Settings › Notifications.

Study, Hebrew and the Psalms

Why is there no Hebrew or Greek for some verses?

Hebrew and Greek word study covers 92.9% of the verses in the 66 books of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. The deuterocanonical books, and chapters whose verses couldn’t be matched exactly, show the Latin instead.

Why are the psalm numbers different from my Bible?

Bless follows the Vulgate, so most psalms are one number lower than in Bibles that follow the Hebrew: Psalm 23 is Psalm 22. The full chart.

Corrections

Report an error in the text

The Scripture, quotations, notes and dates in Bless all come from sources, and sources have mistakes. If you find one, we want to know.

Please tell us:

  • where it is: the book, chapter and verse, the saint, or the date;
  • which translation you were reading (CPDV or Douay-Rheims), or which part of the app (a comment, Study, Today, Discover);
  • what looks wrong, and what you think is right, with your source if you have one;
  • a screenshot, if it’s easy.

Some gaps are already known, such as chapters with no Latin and computed reading citations after May 31, 2027.
