Today in Bless on Wednesday, September 2, 2026: the day in Ordinary Time, its four Mass reading citations and St. William of Roskilde.

The day

Today, from the app’s own calendar.

This card is built from the same calendar Bless ships: the season and its week, the color, the celebration and its rank, the Sunday and weekday cycles, the US Mass reading citations and the saint of the day.

In the app, tap a reading and it opens in the translation you read in. Below it sit your own numbers — your streak, the verses you’ve read, your saved verses and Amens.

Good to know

Honest about the calendar.

Where the citations come from

Through May 31, 2027, the citations are as published in the USCCB liturgical calendar. From then through December 31, 2028, Bless computes them from the US Lectionary’s cycle and checks them against the published years — so confirm with your parish missalette. A reading Bless doesn’t have says “not available”.

Not the NABRE

The citations follow the US Lectionary, but the text Bless shows is the CPDV or the Douay-Rheims, not the NABRE you hear at Mass in the United States. On this website, each day’s page prints the New Testament readings in the CPDV where its verse numbers match the Lectionary’s, and links the other readings to their chapter.

The US calendar

Bless follows the calendar of the United States. The Epiphany is kept on a Sunday (January 3, 2027 and January 2, 2028). In most US dioceses the Ascension moves from Thursday to the following Sunday, so check your diocese for that week.

The saint of the day

Bless gives every date a saint — 368 saints on 366 dates — so on Sundays, feasts of the Lord and many weekdays the saint of the day is not the one the Mass celebrates. On November 1, 2026, for example, the Church celebrates All Saints; Bless’s saint of the day is St. Benignus of Dijon.

Saints

A saint for every day of the year.

368 saints, one for every date — April 11 and June 29 have two. Each has a life, a feast, and for 127 of them a patronage. 59 are quoted (56 of them with the work named), and every saying that no source confirms is marked so.

Tell Bless your birthday and it finds your birthday saint; on their day, Today’s saint card says so.

St. Augustine of Hippo in Bless: bishop and Doctor of the Church, feast August 28, patron of theologians, brewers and converts, with three of his sayings from the Confessions.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does Bless show the readings heard at Mass?

It shows the citations of the US Mass readings. The text it opens is the CPDV or the Douay-Rheims, not the NABRE read at Mass in the United States.

How far ahead does the calendar go?

Through December 31, 2028: citations as published by the USCCB through May 31, 2027, computed by Bless after that.

Is the saint of the day the one celebrated at Mass?

Not always. Bless has a saint for every date, so on many days its saint is not the one the Mass celebrates.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The calendar, the citations, the saints and the Bible all ship inside the app.
