Life
A shopkeeper of Saumur who kept her religious-goods store open even on Sundays for profit — until a strange pilgrim woman’s words pierced her. She closed the shop, filled her house with orphans, and founded the Sisters of St. Anne of Providence; the town that had mocked ‘the miser’ buried her as its mother.
