Life
Timothy, the timid, half-Greek disciple from Lystra whom Paul circumcised, trained, and loved as a son, of one mind with him as no one else was; and Titus, the Greek convert Paul refused to circumcise, his troubleshooter for the roughest assignments, whom Paul greeted as his true son in the faith they shared.
To Timothy at Ephesus and Titus in Crete, Paul wrote the letters that shaped the Church’s pastoral office ever since. Tradition makes both bishops and both faithful to the end — the day after Paul’s feast, the Church remembers his two right hands.
