Life
A watchmaker and a lacemaker of Alençon, both once refused by religious orders, who married and raised nine children — losing four small — in a home of daily Mass, honest work, and open-handed charity. All five surviving daughters became nuns; the youngest was Thérèse. They are the first married couple canonized together.
