Life
A Norman noblewoman of Sicily who left the court for caves on Monte Pellegrino, where she died alone with her crucifix. Five centuries later, in the plague of 1624, her rediscovered relics were carried around Palermo and the dying ceased; ‘la Santuzza’ has been the city’s beloved patroness ever since.
