Life
A Tyrolean serving-maid dismissed for giving leftovers to the poor, who hired herself to a farmer on condition of freedom to attend church — her upheld sickle, hanging in the air, settled a dispute about Sabbath work, says the mountain tradition. Restored to her old household, she ruled its kitchen with charity for the rest of her days.
