Life
Levi the tax collector sat at his customs booth in Capernaum — a collaborator, despised — until Jesus passed and said two words: ‘Follow me.’ He rose, left everything, and threw a feast where the Lord ate with sinners and scandalized the righteous.
The Gospel under his name preserves the Sermon on the Mount and the Magi’s star. Tradition sends his later preaching to Ethiopia or Persia, and a martyr’s death.
