A Norman missionary who preached over a hundred parish missions, nursed plague victims from a cask in a field so as not to endanger his brethren, founded seminaries and a refuge for women leaving prostitution — and, before Margaret Mary’s visions, established the first feasts of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
