Life
The girl of Nazareth who answered the angel with ‘let it be done to me according to your word,’ and so became the Mother of God. She kept every word of her Son in her heart, followed him to the Cross when the apostles fled, and prayed at the Church’s birth at Pentecost.
Taken up body and soul into heaven, she remains the Church’s mother and its image: what she is, the Church hopes to be. Every generation has called her blessed, under a thousand titles — the year keeps her conception, her birth, her sorrows, her queenship.
