Life
Philip of Bethsaida, called by Jesus the day after Peter and Andrew, found Nathanael with the words ‘Come and see.’ It was Philip who asked at the Supper, ‘Lord, reveal the Father to us’ — and received the answer the Church has pondered ever since: ‘Whoever sees me, also sees the Father.’
James the son of Alphaeus, called the Less, is honored by ancient tradition as the ‘brother of the Lord’ who led the church of Jerusalem, wrote the epistle that bears the name, and was thrown from the temple parapet for confessing Christ. The two share a feast because their relics were laid together in the Church of the Twelve Apostles at Rome.
