Life
An Umbrian peasant girl married against her wishes to a violent man, whose eighteen years of patience and prayer finally gentled him — shortly before he was murdered in a vendetta. When her two sons swore revenge, she prayed they might die rather than kill; both fell ill and died forgiving.
Thrice refused by the Augustinian nuns of Cascia, she was finally admitted and lived forty years in prayer and care for the sick. In her last years a wound as of a thorn from the Crown appeared on her forehead. With Jude, she shares the patronage of the impossible.
