Life
A Swiss farmer, magistrate, and father of ten who, at fifty, with his wife’s consent, became the hermit ‘Brother Klaus’ of the Ranft gorge, living — witnesses attested — on the Eucharist alone for nineteen years. In 1481 his counsel, carried down the mountain, saved the Swiss confederation from civil war.
