Life

A Visitation nun of Paray-le-Monial to whom Christ showed his heart — ‘which has so loved men’ — in revelations between 1673 and 1675, asking for a feast, reparation, and the communion of First Fridays.

Dismissed as deluded by her community until the Jesuit Claude de la Colombière discerned her sanity and sanctity, she lived to see the devotion take root. The Sacred Heart feast now belongs to the whole Church.

Do not be afraid to abandon yourself totally to God; He will not let you down.

Letters, c. 1689
