Life
An orphaned noblewoman, widowed mother, and scrupulous soul whom Vincent de Paul steadied and set to work. Together they founded the Daughters of Charity — nuns whose cloister, their rule said, is the streets, whose chapel the parish church. She formed hundreds of them and traveled France inspecting hospitals until her body gave out.
