Life
The carpenter of Nazareth, of David’s royal line, who took Mary into his home at the angel’s word and gave the Son of God a trade, a town, and a name. Scripture records his dreams and his obedience, but not a single word.
He guarded the Holy Family through Bethlehem, Egypt, and Nazareth, and disappears from the story before the public ministry — tradition holds he died in the arms of Jesus and Mary, which made him patron of a happy death, as he is of workers and of the whole Church.
