Life
A poor Brabant sacristan who lost his one venture into trade — the ship sank at the dock — and took it as God’s answer, spending seven years as a pilgrim to Rome and Jerusalem on foot. He died a pauper at Anderlecht; the working poor of the Low Countries made ‘poor Guy’ their own.
