She kept every word of her Son in her heart, followed him to the Cross when the apostles fled, and prayed at the Church’s birth at Pentecost. Taken up body and soul into heaven, she remains the Church’s mother and its image: what she is, the Church hopes to be. Every generation has called her blessed, under a thousand titles — the year keeps her conception, her birth, her sorrows, her queenship. ## Patron of Tradition invokes Blessed Virgin Mary as patron of the universal Church.
