## About Bless

### Is Bless a Catholic Bible app?

Yes. Bless: Scroll Catholic Bible carries all 73 books of the Catholic canon — 46 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New, including the seven deuterocanonical books and the longer Esther and Daniel — and numbers the Psalms as the Vulgate does. Its comments are quotations from saints and Church Fathers, with Bishop Challoner’s notes and links to the Catechism. Its default translation, the CPDV, has no imprimatur; see below.

### Who makes Bless?

Funn Apps (Funn Apps LLC), from FunnMedia, the studio behind WaterMinder. There is more about them on the [About page](https://blessbible.app/about/).

### Is Bless on Android?

No. Bless is an iPhone app.

### Is there an iPad app?

No. Bless is made for iPhone, with a two-page layout on the foldable [iPhone Duo](https://blessbible.app/features/iphone-duo/).

### Is there audio?

No. Bless is for reading; it has no audio Bible.

### Which iPhones does it run on?

Any iPhone with iOS 26 or later.

## Free, private, offline

### Is Bless free?

Yes. The whole Bible in both translations, every comment, search and Today are free, with no ads. Bless Premium ($4.99 a month or $29.99 a year in the US) adds Hebrew & Greek word study, the full Study sheet, all of Discover, the widgets and writing private notes. See [Bless pricing, row by row](https://blessbible.app/pricing/).

### Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no login.

### Does the app have ads or tracking?

No. The app has no ads, no tracking and no analytics. Purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat, which keeps an anonymous purchase history so a subscription works. This website uses Google Analytics to count visits (see [Privacy](https://blessbible.app/privacy/#website)).

### Does it work offline?

Yes. Every verse, comment, saint, study card and the calendar ship inside the app; nothing needs a connection.

## Scripture & translations

### Which translations does Bless use?

The Catholic Public Domain Version (CPDV) by default, and the Douay-Rheims in Bishop Challoner’s revision. Switch in Settings › Reading › Translation. Scripture on this website is printed in the CPDV. Read [more about the CPDV](https://blessbible.app/translations/cpdv/).

### Does the CPDV have an imprimatur?

No. The CPDV is a private translation by Ronald L. Conte Jr., placed in the public domain in 2009, and it has not been approved by the Church. The translator’s own notes on it are at [sacredbible.org](https://sacredbible.org/catholic/version.htm). For an approved translation, the NABRE is the one read at Mass in the United States.

### Does Bless have the deuterocanonical books?

Yes: Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees, and the Greek parts of Esther and Daniel. [The Catholic Bible by the numbers](https://blessbible.app/guides/catholic-bible-by-the-numbers/) counts all 73 books, chapter by chapter.

### How are the Psalms numbered?

As in the Vulgate (and the Greek Septuagint), so most psalms are one lower than in Hebrew-numbered Bibles like the NABRE, RSV and KJV: “The Lord is my shepherd” is Psalm 22 in Bless, Psalm 23 there. The [psalm numbering guide](https://blessbible.app/guides/psalm-numbering/) lists all 150.

### Is the NABRE in Bless?

No. Bless carries the CPDV and the Douay-Rheims, both in the public domain.

### Is there a reading plan?

No plan or schedule. Read in order from Genesis to Revelation at your own pace, with a map of every chapter you’ve finished, or let the shuffled feed deal you verses. See [where to start reading the Catholic Bible](https://blessbible.app/guides/where-to-start-reading-the-catholic-bible/).

## Comments, Study & AI

### Is anything in Bless written by AI?

Yes. The Study cards, book introductions, Discover notes and saints’ biographies were written for Bless with an AI model; the Study cards were checked by automated validation. Scripture, the Latin, the Hebrew and Greek, the saints’ quotations, Bishop Challoner, the Catechism references and the calendar are not.

### Are the comments written by AI?

No. Every comment is a quotation from a saint or Church Father — with its source, or marked “source unconfirmed” — a note by Bishop Challoner, or a Catechism reference. See [how the comments work](https://blessbible.app/features/commentary/).

### Is every quotation about the verse it sits under?

No. Only 14 quotations were written about a particular verse; the rest are tagged to a theme or chosen from the pool of 192, so the same voices recur across many verses.

### Is there Hebrew and Greek for the whole Bible?

No. Bless has key words for 29,201 verses, 92.9% of the protocanonical books, and none for the deuterocanonical books, which show the Latin. See [how Study works](https://blessbible.app/features/study/).

### Does Bless quote the Catechism?

No. It shows the paragraph number and the Catechism’s own section heading, and links to vatican.va.

## Today & widgets

### Is the saint of the day the one celebrated at Mass?

Not always. Bless gives every date a saint, so on Sundays, feasts of the Lord and many weekdays its saint is not the one the Mass celebrates. See [how the Today tab works](https://blessbible.app/features/today/).

### Are the Mass readings the NABRE?

No. Bless shows the US Mass reading citations and opens them in the CPDV or the Douay-Rheims.

### Are there Lock Screen widgets?

No. The two [widgets](https://blessbible.app/features/widgets/) — Verse of the Hour and Saint of the Day — are for the Home Screen, in small and medium sizes, with Premium.

### How often does the verse widget change?

Every half hour.

## Purchases

### How do I cancel Premium?

In the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Bless. In Bless, Settings › Premium › Manage subscription opens the same screen.

### How do I restore a purchase?

In Bless, tap Settings › Premium › Restore purchases.

### What happens if Premium ends?

Nothing you read is taken away. Your notes stay readable, Study keeps Bishop Challoner’s summaries and the book introductions, and the widgets lock.
