The Lectionary

## What liturgical year *is it?*

Each liturgical year begins on the First Sunday of Advent and is named for the calendar year it mostly falls in. Here are the cycles from the data Bless ships.

*The Lectionary cycles, read from the calendar Bless ships*

| Year | Advent to Advent | Lectionary |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 (Now) | Until Nov 28, 2026 | **Year A** · Cycle II Sunday Gospel: Matthew |
| 2027 | Nov 29, 2026 – Nov 27, 2027 | **Year B** · Cycle I Sunday Gospel: Mark |
| 2028 | Nov 28, 2027 – Dec 2, 2028 | **Year C** · Cycle II Sunday Gospel: Luke |
| 2029 | Dec 3, 2028 – beyond this calendar | **Year A** · Cycle I Sunday Gospel: Matthew |

Sunday readings turn through three years (A, B, C) and weekday first readings through two cycles (I, II). Year A reads mostly from Matthew, B from Mark (with John 6), C from Luke; John is read in Lent and Easter Time every year.

Each day’s page prints the New Testament readings in the CPDV and lists the Old Testament readings and the psalm with a link to their chapter; the app shows the text of every reading.

Where this comes from

Through May 31, 2027: citations as published in the USCCB liturgical calendar. After that: computed by Bless from the US Lectionary cycle — confirm with your parish.

The calendar is the US one as Bless ships it — seasons, colors, ranks and the saint of the day — with known data errors corrected. Bless keeps a saint for every date; on some days it is not the saint celebrated at Mass.
