## Mass readings (US)

### First Reading: Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7

Read in the CPDV: [Isaiah 42](https://blessbible.app/bible/isaiah/42/)

### Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 29:1-2, 3-4, 3, 9-10

Read in the CPDV: [Psalm 29 (28 in the Vulgate)](https://blessbible.app/bible/psalms/28/)

### Second Reading: Acts 10:34-38

- 34 Then, Peter, opening his mouth, said: “I have concluded in truth that God is not a respecter of persons.
- 35 But within every nation, whoever fears him and works justice is acceptable to him.
- 36 God sent the Word to the sons of Israel, announcing the peace through Jesus Christ, for he is the Lord of all.
- 37 You know that the Word has been made known throughout all Judea. For beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached,
- 38 Jesus of Nazareth, whom God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, traveled around doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil. For God was with him.

### Alleluia: Cf. Mark 9:7

### Gospel: Luke 3:15-16, 21-22

- 15 Now all were thinking about John in their hearts, and the people were supposing that perhaps he might be the Christ.
- 16 John responded by saying to everyone: “Indeed, I baptize you with water. But there will arrive one stronger than me, the laces of whose shoes I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit, and with fire.
- 21 Now it happened that, when all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized; and as he was praying, heaven was opened.
- 22 And the Holy Spirit, in a corporal appearance like a dove, descended upon him. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son. In you, I am well pleased.”

Computed by Bless from the US Lectionary cycle — confirm with your parish.

In US parishes the readings are proclaimed from the NABRE; the text shown here is the Catholic Public Domain Version.

Old Testament readings and the psalm are listed with a link to their chapter: the US Lectionary numbers some of their verses differently from the CPDV, so their text is not printed here. Psalm citations keep the Lectionary’s Hebrew numbering; the CPDV numbers the Psalms as the Vulgate does.
